Why "Running Code"?

Running Code BBQ isn’t just about great sauce—it’s about honoring those who serve.

The name "Running Code" comes from a term used by First Responders. It means getting to a destination as quickly as possible, lights flashing, sirens blaring—because every second counts. It’s a phrase that embodies urgency, dedication, and a commitment to serving others.

For Mitch, BBQ isn’t just a passion—it’s a family tradition. As a retired Police Officer, he spent years protecting his community, just as his father did before him. His dad was the first paid firefighter in Lee’s Summit and later became Fire Chief. Growing up surrounded by a legacy of service, Mitch knew he wanted to create something that not only brought people together over great food but also gave back to those who serve.

That’s why Running Code BBQ proudly supports First Responders—Police, Firefighters, Dispatchers, EMTs, Doctors, Nurses, and of course, our Military.

Mitch’s journey into BBQ started with competition cooking. He spent years perfecting a rich, sweet sauce with just the right amount of heat, inspired by the legendary BBQ traditions of Kansas City. Every batch is crafted with high-quality ingredients, ensuring that each bottle delivers a perfect balance of smoky sweetness and bold spice.

From backyard BBQs to competition pits, this sauce became a favorite among friends, family, and fellow pitmasters. The response was overwhelming: “You have to bottle this!”—and that’s exactly what we did.
